Who doesn't love a good food photograph?  Especially when that photo is American cookies!

Photo Thesaurus Page 7: Transportation

If there is one thing we overlook in our every day lives, it is transportation.  It is one of those things that we don't think about it until we don't have it or our normal mode is changed.  The photo I've used below is a photo from the Imperial Garden in Beijing - with beautiful and serene views of such an old means of transportation.

Photo Thesaurus Page 6: Eating

Ah, eating.  One of my favorite things to do when I travel is check out the local food.  I wander the supermarkets, food stalls, and streets looking at the various delicacies, purchasing the occasional item to see what the local flavor is all about.  I thought this photo from our lunch last Sunday (complete with Avocado Salad, Wasa Bread, Quiche, and French Cheese) would be a good choice.

Photo Thesaurus Page 5: Life

The theme "life" is a good one - so many things can illustrate "life".  I think of the new baby born today from the Crown Princess of Sweden, spring grass underneath the melting snow, and even the sun rising this morning as I drink my tea.  I thought about it, and it is activity that says "life" to me.  So, here's my interpretation of this theme!

Semla!

Semla is a big deal in Sweden today, so why not add a few photos I've taken over the past month?  One is homemade, the other in the bakery.  Personally, I think the homemade semla look much more appealing!

Fototriss / Phototriple: Repetition

This week's photo triple is "repetition."  I thought about this one for a while, and my mind wondered to the finger-moving past-time of my girlfriend: knitting.  If anything in my life could illustrate "repetition," it is the presence of knitting.

Night after night, knitting or crocheting takes place at my side; yarns being twisted into beautiful works of textile art.  To me, this seems a kind of funny way to "relax," but maybe the repetition lulls the mind into serenity.

And of course, the byproducts of this hobby are wonderful, as you can see in the three photos below!

Photo Thesaurus Page 4: Beauty

This week's photo thesaurus is "beauty".  I think beauty is everywhere you look - nature, man-made structures, people, relationships, etc.  So it is hard to put beauty into just one photo, but here goes:

Fototriss / Phototriple: What it looks like where I am / Så här ser det ut där jag är

On the road today, but made a stop to take a few photos for this week's theme!  It was a beautiful late-winter day on the coast!

Photo Thesaurus Page 3: Valuable

This week's photo thesaurus is "valuable".  I thought about it, and it is a difficult one!  I could put photos of my family, friends, past experiences/memories, or even castles, churches, or gold.  This is what I decided to use:

Photo Thesaurus Page 2: Power

I thought about this theme, "power" and realized that sometimes power (or the illusion of power) is forced upon people.  I was in Beijing this fall, and when I saw this photo I took next to Mao's mausoleum in Tienanmen Square, it said "POWER!" to me.

Fototriss / Phototriple: Love & Romance

This week's phototriple is "Love and Romance."  I realized that the movie The Bridges of Madison County is thought to be one of the most romantic films ever made, so I decided to use my photos from my visit to the bridges in Madison county!  I hope you like them!

Photo Thesaurus Page 1: Emotional

Emotional is a tough theme because so many things cause emotional responses for me: sunsets/sunrises, couples, parks, etc., etc.  But this photo in particular - there's something about that man who is walking alone.

Fototriss / Phototriple: Less is More

This week's phototriple was another tricky one (they are always a great challenge!).  "Less is More."  It is a common expression, but how do you put it into 3 photos?  At first, I thought about it in many different ways, but then I realized there are some people who dedicate their lives to this mindset.  So, here is my interpretation!

Fototriss / Phototriple: Stripes Never Fade

This week's phototriple is "Stripes Never Fade" (or "Stripes Never Go Out").  As with all the wonderful themes on Fototriss, I find this one very challenging!  I have taken many photos in the past that I thought might be appropriate, but today I went on a photowalk and found inspiration - just when I wanted to cross the street.

Winter Photos

After 1 month away, I have a few winter photos.  Most of the US and Europe have had strange winters, but this is a good reminder of the ice and snow some people might be missing.
